The Boys Are Back in Town......

They're Back!!! Obviously they were WAY too busy to shave while they were gone or maybe it is "the look" while you are wrangling slimy fish for the summer.

It is just good to have them home.

No Alarm Clocks Necessary

For the past 3 days my wake up call has not been the noisy buzzer of an alarm clock but the vocal music of Bald Eagles in the back yard. They carefully pick only the tallest tree and then begin their morning chorus to welcome the new day. The beauty of Alaska is not only the visual splendor of the landscape but it also includes the quiet moments of listening to the elegant melody of a pair of eagles. It is very easy to loose track of time and forget that you should be getting out of bed.

Much of Alaska's summer activity revolves around the returning salmon. This summer ritual has kept Brady and Daniel employed in Bristol Bay for the 2008 season working on the Jade 5 and Jade 8. The Jade boats are tenders that the fishermen off load their catch. Then when full, between 50-60 thousand pounds of fish, the tenders deliver the catch to the processing plants.

Daniel and Brady will be home today after a busy and exciting season. It is fun work so they say, but they are ready for a change. The rest of the family is just eager to welcome them back safe and sound!
